A Forest in His Eyes

Everybody always wants to know how I got that close to this squirrel. First of all this picture was taken durring the coldest day that year, it was WELL below zero. I am wanting to say 5 or 10 below, and it felt like 20. -_- I didn't stay out long, and that squirrel wasn't moving that fast. I also was not as close as it would appear as I was using my zoom lens. So...slow squirrel+Zoom lens and there you go.

Turning

I have been asked a lot, where this picture was taken. To tell the truth it is a private lake behind my fathers house. And I use the term lake loosely as it started life as a strip pit. A very big Strip pit. 14 acres to be exact. Like most strip pits when they were finished they flooded it, stocked it with fish and sold the land off. I am of two minds about this practice. While I HATE that they have destroyed woodland habitats they have created more wetlands this way, replacing a lot that has been destroyed. Vultures, herons, and crans now nest in this area. :)

This was taken at my Aunt's house. She lived there from 1981-2009. It's odd knowing I can never go back there, since it always felt like a second home.

R. Ciliatus belong to the genus Rhacodactylus which also includes: R. Aurticulatus, R. Chahous, R. Leachianus, R. Sarasinorum, and R. trychtrynchus. This is a group of medium sized geckos that have prehensile tails which act as a second limb, and well developed lamellae to assist in climbing. They are as a whole arboreal geckos.

Tomorrows Parties

Limenitis arthemis astyanax. The Red-spotted Purple species of North American brush-footed butterfly and a subspecies of Limenitis arthemis which includes White Admirals. This group of butterflies mimic the Pipevine swallowtail, which is poisonous, and is generally found at the edge of woodland areas. They are a common species found throughout the eastern United States.

Girl Goyle

Rhacodactylus auriculatus. New Caledonian bumpy gecko. They are more commonly called Gargoyle geckos. Their native habitat is found in the southern end of the Island of New Caledonia. Like Cresties they are both nocturnal and arboreal.

In my previous journal entry. I would like to clear up something. NO where in any of my ramblings do I, or would I suggest that my uncle was murdered by a ghost. I don't know HOW or WHY anyone would construe this from what I wrote. It is a touchy subject for me. And a good way to piss me off, if you suggest this was what I was implying. The fact that the house is haunted, and the fact that my uncle was murdered are TWO separate issues. He was obviously involved in things he should not have been. Obviously. I have my own theories about it, but I am not going to divulge them, kthanks.

Also. THIS was a murder. Murders are investigated by police. Don't be inane. There was a long and drawn out investigation. I do not all of their findings, they don't share them with the family. At this point, to my knowledge it is at cold case status. No one has been arrested.

And another thing. If you do not believe in ghosts. Fine. I don't care. But just because you do not, well that is your issue. Don't tell me their are no ghosts, and I am wrong. I am entitled to my opinion. Just because our opinions are not the same does not mean that I am wrong. Or stupid. Or naive. I have a REASON for believing what I believe.
